Brought my kid to the World of Studio Ghibli at Art Science Museum because we are familiar with some of the films from Studio Ghibli!
It opens from 4 Oct 2024 – 2 Feb 2025. I bought my tickets from Klook and if it is a weekday, it is much cheaper, at least $10 cheaper! It was pretty crowded on a weekday so I would imagine it would be worse on a weekend or public holiday!
There are two floors to explore, one at the basement and one at level 3. The staff recommended us to go to the basement first so off we went!
Basement
So the first thing you see are all the different movie posters over the years, starting with Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.
The format of the entire exhibition is that they will focus on a few popular titles, starting with Howl’s Moving Castle. In fact, the following display can actually move!
Here are some more exhibits from the same movie.
There is a chair where you can take a seat and have a nice photo next to Calcifer.
There are also some displays for Laputa, Castle in the Sky!
The last exhibit in the basement is none other than the world famous Totoro!
It is probably one of the largest exhibit areas, other than Spirited Away which is on the 3rd floor. You will first enter a forest path where you encounter some of the Makkuro kurosuke!
That is when you will start seeing a queue, which leads to a photo taking at the famous bus stop!
But before reaching the bus stop, you will stop by a nice exhibit where you can peek into to see the sleeping Totoro!
And yes, at the end of the queue that seems like forever (because people are doing many different poses), you will get your chance to have the staff help you take your photo!
3rd floor
And off we went to the 3rd floor after spending like 1 hour or so at the basement! First exhibit is Princess Mononoke!
We also saw Kiki’s Delivery!
We then reached the other large exhibit which was Spirited Away!
The No-Face was quite well done, it was portrayed using shadows!
There was also a last photo taking spot which is the famous scene where Chihiro took the train!
Lastly, you will exit and find quite a huge merchandise store!
Overall, it was a nice experience, and we took 1.5-2 hours or so!
